Boyzone est un boys band originaire d'Irlande créé en 1993 à Dublin, par le manager Louis Walsh. Le groupe fut très populaire en Europe et principalement au Royaume Uni et tout naturellent en Irlande, leur pays natal.

La formation est composée de Ronan Keating, Stephen Gately (les voix principales), Keith Duffy, Shane Lynch et Mikey Graham.

Leurs chansons sont très romantiques pour la plupart mais avec une influence pop. Leurs 4 albums sortis entre 1995 et 1999 ont été successivement N°1 outre-manche. Le groupe a fait un break en 2000 car chacun a souhaité s'investir dans des projets personnels.

Ronan Keating a alors entamé une carrière solo réussie, avec 4 albums solo (Ronan, Destination, Turn It On et Bring You home) et un best-of (10 Years Of Hits) à son actif. Quant à Stephen Gately, après avoir sorti un album en 2000 (New Beginning), il a choisi de se consacrer exclusivement à sa passion pour les comédies musicales.

Shane Lynch, lui, s´est penché sur le monde de la mécanique. Ayant grandi et travaillé au garage de son père, Shane est un passionné de voiture. Il commence par des rally en conduisant une FORD KA et participe à plusieurs championnats.

Boyzone a ouvert la porte à un autre groupe irlandais devenu également populaire et co-managé pendant quelques années par Ronan Keating, Westlife.

Boyzone a annoncé officiellement son grand retour en novembre 2007, avec une tournée anglaise et un album best of de leur plus grands tubes (Back again ... No matter what). Il a été suivi par 2 singles Love you anyway et Better.

Stephen Gately est décédé le 10 octobre 2009 à Majorque d'une maladie cardiaque causée par l'athéromatose, alors qu'il était en vacances avec son compagnon.

Le nouveau single de Boyzone, Gave It All Away (une chanson écrite par le chanteur Mika), sortira le 1er mars 2010, suivi du nouvel album, Brothers, le 8 mars 2010.
